A Bit About Our Program
At Echolight, we do relationships – not transactions. When you take one of our babies home, we will link arms with you and support you for the rest of that dog's life and beyond. We DO expect to keep in touch over the years and love to hear about milestones as you reach them. We have made many good friends this way and it is one of our favorite parts of being breeders.
We breed for ourselves first, striving to improve and preserve our breeding program with specific goals in mind, rather than to just produce puppies to sell. Each breeding we do is carefully planned using health tested parent dogs with quality in mind, in hopes that we will have a puppy or two to keep and move forward with. Of course, not every puppy produced should go on to reproduce for a variety of reasons. These puppies will be available to loving companion or performance homes.
Due to the great financial and emotional investment of producing a litter, as well as the many many hours of time involved, we don't have litters available all the time - maybe twice per year. It's a lot of work! This is true for many responsible breeders. We encourage you to start searching for a good breeder at least 6 months before you plan to take a puppy home; one year in advance would be even better. Talk with many breeders and get an idea of what your ideal Aussie would be like. Don't "puppy shop" - breeder shop! This breed has a lot of variety within it, so there is something for everyone! Our idea of an ideal Aussie may not be yours. Ask lots of questions and look for a breeder who is patient, open and honest with your questions. And expect to be asked about yourself in return! We want to place our babies in suitable, loving homes and obtain the best match between puppy and owner! We want you to succeed!

Temperament First
We place puppies by temperament and individual potential first. While we understand that most people have color or sex preferences, and we work with you to the best of our abilities to meet those preferences, the personality of the dog is what is most important. In the long run, you will be much happier with an Aussie that suits your lifestyle and family than one that looks a certain way/is a particular gender but does not fit in at all! We make our placement decisions on which puppy goes to which home at approximately 8 weeks old once we have evaluated their conformation, temperament, and health to the best of our ability.
Health Guarantee
Our puppies go to their new homes on a 48 hr approval basis. During this time we recommend that you take your puppy to the vet. If the puppy is in any way unacceptable within that time you may return him or her for a full refund. Our puppies are also covered by a 36 month guarantee against any genetic life-threatening or disabling disorders, and a further guarantee of 6 years against primary epilepsy and inherited blinding cataracts.
Spay/Neuter
All puppies that are strictly pet/companion will be sold with a spay/neuter contract on limited registration. We also accept and encourage alternative forms of sterilization (Ovary-Sparing Spay, Vasectomy, etc). We encourage owners to wait until a dog is sexually mature before traditional spay/neuter procedures be performed.
